Some pages are missing. Like our students. Coincidence? I think not.

"I code this by candlelight between evening prayers and curfew. I do not sleep in the dormitory anymore. The third bed in Room 7 is empty. It is always empty. Someone sleeps there. It is not a girl."

⚠️ VERBOTEN ⚠️

The Mother Superior does not endorse this site. I am posting this because my sister (class of '93) never came home. Catholics bury their dead. Where is my sister?

Welcome to Our Lady of Sorrows…

Peace be with you. I am SisterScratch, and this site is about St. Agnes Preparatory School for Girls, in Dunwich, New Hampshire — a boarding school run by the Sisters of the Weeping Veil since 1929. Girls go in. Girls do not always come out.

The diocese says the missing girls "transferred." There are no records of transfers. There are no forwarding addresses. There are no tearful goodbye letters. There is only the cellar.

I have spent two years collecting what I could: the history, the missing, the sightings, and the letters the Sisters would not let me send. If you know something, SIGN THE GUESTBOOK. Several of the missing girls' classmates read this site. We are praying for you. 🕯️

~ Requiescat in pace. But not yet, not yet. ~

Quick facts

  • Founded 1929 by Mother Superior Agnes of the Weeping Veil (d. 1956).
  • 9 confirmed missing between 1934 and 1997. The diocese calls them "transfers." 🙄
  • The chapel bell rings at 3:33 AM by itself. Has since 1956.
  • Room 7 has three beds. Only two girls ever sleep in it.
  • The cellar is sealed with a wax seal. Do not break the wax. I MEAN IT.
  • The roses in the courtyard bloom in December. They have thorns. The thorns move.
